Begging is one of the important issues of Pakistan which has not been taken into account seriously. Begging is tremendously common these days and it has been converted from compulsion to profession. The number of beggars in our country is rising day by day. It is really a curse that even able-bodied citizens resort to begging. In general, beggars can be categorized into two types, first are those who have no choice and are bound to do it and the second are those who have mastered the art of begging and make a substantial amount of money from it.
While poverty is real, begging is often carried out in organised gangs. Begging is prevalent everywhere. This includes important monuments, railway stations, divine sites, restaurants and parks.

At places of tourist attraction beggars often emotionally blackmail the tourists to give them money and they beg in an emotional way that the tourists can’t deny beggars. They know how to play with emotions.
Nowadays, most professional beggars are found outside of the restaurants blackmailing emotionally by saying things like they starving for some days, their kids are starving. Usually the professional beggars deliberately wear dirty or torn clothes to show their poverty and gain sympathy of others.

Most of the beggars pretend to be having injuries& ask for money for their treatment but then again that is only for the sake of sympathy. Even though many beggars pretend to be deaf, dumb or show other disabilities to gain sympathy and compel people to give them money.

According to the research of the Asian Human Rights Commission (AHRC) in Pakistan, “There are 1.2 million children on the streets of major cities and the urban center of Pakistan. This is just the number of children who beg, apart from children there is a number of beggars who are mostly disabled or claim to be disabled”.

In our society, begging has habitually been tolerated and encouraged because people support charities to obtain spiritual value or for the sake of humanity but we have forgotten that these people are professionals & living better life without working hard or investing. They are absolutely fine in terms of health, they are young and can do any kind of work there are so many opportunities out there, but still they like to beg because of two reasons one is that they don’t have to do anything & the second is that they earn more money in begging without investing rather than earning through some other work or investment.

To overcome the street beggary you should stop giving money to those who are able to work for themselves instead of giving them money suggest them to earn money with respect or you can report to the Social Welfare Department of Pakistan against begging. You can distinguish between the real and fake beggars who are old or disabled and aren’t able to work and earn you can help them still begging is a crime itself but charity helps humanity

Nowadays mostly professional beggars are found outside the restaurants as they blackmail emotionally by saying such things that they are hungry for some days. Usually, the professional beggars deliberately wear such clothes which are torn or dirty to show their poverty and beg in a way to gain sympathy from people. Most of the beggars do acts of having injuries and ask for money for their treatment but that is only the act for the sake of money not reality. Even though many beggars pretend to be deaf, dumb, disabled or lame to get more sympathy and compel people to give them money. This is just the number of children who beg, apart from children there are a number of beggars who are mostly disabled or claim to be disable”.
In our society, begging has traditionally been tolerated and encouraged because people give money to beggars to obtain religious merit or for the sake of humanity but we have forgotten that these people are professionals and living without doing anything is the sole purpose of their lives. They are absolutely fine in terms of health, they are young and can do any kind of labor work or any other work but still they like to beg because of two reasons one is that they don’t have to do anything but to disgrace themselves and the second is they earn more money in begging rather than earning through some other work.

To overcome the street beggary you should stop giving money to those who are able to work for themselves instead of that you give advice to them to earn money with respect. You can yourself distinguish between the real and fake beggars, who are old or disabled and aren’t able to do any work you can help them but if you meet a beggar able of doing work suggest him to do work.
