Q: what is the role of NGOs in sociological issues?
NGOs are becoming vital players in rural development and poverty alleviation through their micro financing programmes, while playing important roles in lobbying in the field of environment and developmental policy-making. The NGOs are of varying types such as community-based organizations, intermediaries and international NGOs. They have basically, the same agenda of helping people to come out with self-sustainable socio-economic programmes with the difference of levels at which they work.
Hence, these NGOs at their own levels, without state’s open-arm policies are playing important roles in achieving social targets, though at micro level. NGOs are making numerous contributions to the sustainable development. They are mobilizing local people and resources to support projects with a motive to enable people to improve quality of life.
Q: What will you suggest for new comers? In the field of social work.
New comers have to understand this very thing carefully that charity, zakat and sadqa are not social work as many people think. Social work is to teach people how to be self made, how to improve thier lives . New comers should concentrate on the various subjects they have been taught in the class like social case work, social group work , social research, community organization, social welfare administration and social action. So the students should learn all these subjects properly . Weather they are in job or not they must apply social work in thier life or in the area they are living.
Q: How do you balance your work and personal life?
My first priority was my work. Working at Radio Pakistan was my passion, so i never got tired of it. I always took out time from my busy schedule to be there, and whenever i got free time i spent it with my family. I always thought that both the personal and professional lives are important so i gave equal time to both.
